Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a highly effective form of talk therapy that allows you to address past traumas without needing to reexperience the trauma. It’s based on the idea that our cognition, emotion, and behavior all interact together to produce negative thoughts and feelings, which can trap us in vicious cycles. It looks at your current problems, rather than your past traumas, and focuses on your ability to change how you think, feel, and behave in certain situations.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH)

CBH combines CBT techniques with hypnotherapy, helping you go deeper within yourself to identify the root cause of your problems. In a constructive and positive way, you’ll reframe a believe and an experience and helps you reprogram your subconscious mind and it can allow you to finally overcome negative thought and behaviour patterns.

What To Expect With Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Hypnotherapy can span one session to multiple sessions over a number of months or even years. It depends on what you want and need. The number of sessions you need will be specific to you and your situation.

We recommend pairing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Hypnotherapy and NeurOptimal Neurofeedback treatments. When your therapeutic plan includes all three approaches, treatments are 90 – 100% effective without any negative results.

No. This is a common misconception, but you can rest easy knowing it’s completely untrue. In reality, when you’re in a hypnotic state, you are actually in a hyper-attentive, conscious, and relaxed state— and you’re in full control of yourself. You’re capable of ignoring your hypnotist, and you can absolutely decide whether or not to explore what your hypnotist is suggesting.

No, hypnosis does not force you to go back to or relive negative experiences or trauma. In fact, it’s the opposite— hypnosis is very helpful for dealing with negative past experiences and trauma because it can help you reframe your negative memories in a more positive way.

You’ll relax in a quiet setting as I use a variety of suggestions and techniques to help you achieve a state of hypnosis. There will be constant communication between us as I actively assess whether the technique I’m using is the best one for you. Once you achieve the desired state, I’ll help connect you to a part of yourself that feels safe and resilient, so you can handle whatever arises without experiencing trauma. Then, we’ll tap into your unconscious mind (which doesn’t know the difference between real and imagined experiences) and start to reframe your issues in a positive way. Expect to feel refreshed, relaxed, and optimistic after your session.

Your initial, free consultation will be a telephone appointment. Following that, you can choose between telephone, virtual, or in-person appointments at our clinic in North Vancouver.

It’s recommended to first book a free 15-minute consultation to chat with Nicklas and figure out if you’re a good fit to work together. 

After, you will be provided an opportunity to book your first 60-min appointment at a discounted rate of $150 + GST. 

Additional appointments vary by appointment type: 

  • 60-minute counselling, coaching, or hypnotherapy sessions cost $175 + GST.
  • 45-minute neurofeedback appointments cost $125 + GST
  • 75-minute appointments that combine neurofeedback with hypnotherapy or counselling cost $205 + GST

Packages are available to reduce the cost of individual sessions. 

If you have an extended health insurance plan you may be able to use your benefits to cover part or all of your appointment cost. Plans can vary, so please check if your policy provides coverage for counselling services provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or a Registered Social Worker (RSW). If you do, you can be reimbursed for your appointment cost through your insurance company at the rate that is detailed in your plan.
