Do we need to meet with the counsellor in-person?
No. Some people prefer to meet in-person and for those individuals we have a comfortable office in North Vancouver where you can meet with your counsellor or coach. Alternatively, counselling and coaching can be done over the telephone or through secure online video calls. Learn what to expect during a couples therapy session.
Do both partners need to be involved in the counselling sessions?
I can work with you individually or as a couple, depending on what suits your relationship best. At the end of the day, it is challenging to guide you towards a shared vision if only one partner is involved in those discussions, so both should be involved in the process. However, some couples prefer to have some sessions together, and some individually, which can absolutely be accommodated. If you are unsure what the best path forward is, please book an initial consultation session either as an individual, or as a couple, and we can develop a plan that suits your unique relationship needs.

Can counselling help us avoid or get out of a power struggle?

Are appointments in-person, virtual, or over the telephone?
We offer appointments in-person in our office in North Vancouver, telephone appointments, as well as appointments via a secure online video platform. Your initial 30-min free consultation will be a telephone or online video appointment, you can select whichever you prefer when you book, but appointments after that can be in-person if you would prefer that.
Will insurance cover my appointment?
If you have an extended health insurance plan you may be able to use your benefits to cover part or all of your appointment cost. Plans can vary, so please check if your policy provides coverage for counselling services provided by either a Registered Clinical Counsellor or a Certified Canadian Counsellor. If you do, you can be reimbursed for your appointment cost through your insurance company at the rate that is detailed in your plan.
