There are many forms of therapy out there. Although it is a great opportunity to have so many options, it can become difficult to navigate which one is the best fit for you.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective forms of therapy when treating anxiety. Let us help you discover if it’s best for you in our blog post.
What is CBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a very effective psychotherapy. It is a form of talking therapy that is based on the idea that how we think, feel, and act all interact together as negative thoughts and feelings. It looks at a client’s current problems, rather than past traumas, and focuses on our ability to change how we think, feel, and behave in certain situations.
Once the client’s current problems have been identified the therapist will work with the client to develop strategies and goals to implement into their lives to enact positive change. These strategies will be specifically tailored to the client and their needs, this makes it more likely for optimal results to occur.
Benefits of Treating Anxiety with CBT
- You are given the ability to change the negative beliefs about yourself
- You gain more control over your thoughts
- You become more rational with your thoughts
- You can learn to correct your negative and false thoughts
- By changing the way you thinking this in-turn allows you to change the way you feel
Limitations of CBT
As effective of a form of therapy that CBT is, there can be limitations to it. When combining CBT with other forms of therapy like hypnotherapy, the strengths in other forms compensate for areas in which CBT is limited.
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy
When you combine CBT and hypnotherapy it is called Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH). The combination of techniques from these two forms of therapy is extremely effective. It first identifies the root cause of individuals’ problems, and the current coping mechanisms they use to deal with them. After identification of these aspects, an integrated method of multiple theories is used to create a tailored and personalized approach. Ultimately, CBH provides people with the tools to reprogram their unconscious mind in order to overcome negative behaviours and thought patterns. Continue to Educate Yourself
